Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a technology that lets you make phone calls over the internet instead of traditional telephone lines. Your voice is converted into digital data packets, transmitted over your broadband connection, and converted back to audio at the other end. The result is clearer calls, far more features, and significantly lower costs than traditional phone services.
Most customers are live within 1–2 business days. If you're porting an existing number, standard geographic numbers typically transfer within 5–10 business days. We handle all provisioning and configuration on your behalf — you just log in and start calling.
No hardware is required to get started. Our Hosted PBX service includes the Webphone App, which runs on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android — download it for free and you're making calls. If you prefer physical desk phones, we stock pre-provisioned Yealink IP handsets from $129 inc GST.
Yes. We offer a 14-day free trial so you can test the full Hosted PBX platform — including the Webphone App, drag-and-drop call flow designer, voicemail to email, and all 30+ features — before committing to a plan. No credit card required. Contact our Perth team to get started.
Our services are designed for Australian businesses. While we don't require an ABN to sign up for a trial, a valid ABN is required for ongoing billing and to comply with Australian telecommunications regulations. Sole traders with an ABN are welcome.

Pricing & Contracts

No lock-in contracts. All plans are month-to-month. You can add users when you grow, remove them when you don't need them, and cancel anytime without penalty. We earn your business every month.
Hosted PBX plans are billed per user per month. PAYG plans bill for call minutes used; Unlimited plans include unlimited Australian local, national, and mobile calls. SIP Trunks are billed per channel per month. Invoices are issued monthly in advance for the plan component, with call usage billed in arrears.
Yes. All prices on this website are shown inclusive of 10% GST as required by Australian law. You will receive a tax invoice each billing period.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect from your next billing cycle. There are no fees for changing plans.
No setup fees for Hosted PBX or SIP Trunk services, and local geographic numbers activate free. 1300 and 1800 numbers carry a one-off $55.00 activation fee, and virtual mobile numbers a one-off $22.00 activation fee. IP phone hardware is priced and billed separately.

Phone Numbers & Porting

Yes. Number porting lets you transfer your existing landline, mobile, 1300, or 1800 number to PC Madness VoIP. Standard geographic numbers (02, 03, 07, 08) typically port within 5–10 business days and are free to port. 1300 and 1800 numbers carry a $55 porting fee, and mobile numbers $22. Your callers will see no interruption — the number just moves.
We can provide local geographic numbers (Perth 08, or any Australian area code), 1300 numbers, 1800 numbers, and virtual mobile numbers. Local numbers start at $2.00/month, 1300 numbers at $8.95/month, and 1800 numbers at $9.95/month.
Yes. Ring groups let you distribute incoming calls to multiple extensions simultaneously (ring all) or sequentially (hunt group). You can also set up call queues with hold music and position announcements for busier reception scenarios.
You own your number and can port it out to another provider at any time. We do not hold numbers hostage. You can request a porting authorisation code and transfer to a new carrier at no charge from our end.

Hosted PBX Features

Every plan includes: drag-and-drop Call Flow Designer, IVR auto-attendant, ring groups, voicemail to email, call transfer, call hold with music, call forwarding, 3-way conference calls, caller ID control, and the Webphone App (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac). Premium features like call recording and call queuing are available as optional add-ons.
Yes. The drag-and-drop Call Flow Designer lets you build multi-level IVR menus, time-based routing, voicemail, and ring groups visually without any technical knowledge. You can record your own prompts or use our professional voiceover service.
Yes. Our Microsoft Teams Direct Routing add-on connects your Teams environment to the PSTN so staff can make and receive external calls directly within the Teams app — no separate phone system needed. Priced from $4.95/account/month added to your Teams licence.
Hosted PBX requires approximately 80 Kbps per simultaneous call using the G.722 HD Voice codec. A standard NBN connection can handle dozens of concurrent calls with ease. We recommend a stable wired connection for best call quality and reliability.

SIP Trunks

A SIP Trunk replaces traditional PSTN phone lines by routing calls over the internet. If you already have an on-premise PBX (3CX, Asterisk, FreePBX, Cisco, etc.), a SIP Trunk connects it to the public telephone network — giving you lower call costs, more channels, and features like disaster recovery failover.
We support all standards-compliant SIP PBX systems, including 3CX, Asterisk, FreePBX, Yeastar, Cisco CallManager, Avaya, and most other major platforms. We provide configuration guides for common systems. Contact us if you're unsure about compatibility.
Each SIP trunk channel supports one simultaneous call. You can order as many channels as you need — there is no artificial limit. Most small businesses start with 4–8 channels and scale as needed.
Our SIP Trunks include disaster recovery failover. If we cannot reach your PBX, calls are automatically diverted to a backup number you specify — a mobile, another location, or an answering service — so callers always get through.
