SIP Trunking

3CX SIP Trunk Configuration Guide

This guide covers configuring PC Madness VoIP SIP trunks in 3CX PBX (version 18 and 20). The process uses a Generic SIP Trunk template.

Adding the SIP Trunk in 3CX

In the 3CX Management Console, navigate to SIP Trunks → Add SIP Trunk. Select Generic as the provider template. Enter:
  • Main Trunk No: your main inbound DID
  • Registrar/Server/Gateway Hostname: sip.voipcloud.online
  • Authentication ID: your trunk username
  • Authentication Password: your trunk password

Codec Settings

Under the Options tab, set Codec Priority to: G.722 → G.711a → G.711u. Disable G.729 (compressed codec, lower quality). Enable Send INVITE without Registering if your trunk uses IP authentication instead of username/password.

Outbound Caller ID

In the trunk's Outbound Parameters tab, set Send SIP From Header to Main Trunk No or a specific DID. This sets the outbound CLI. Ensure the number matches an assigned DID in the VoIPCloud portal.

Inbound Routing

Navigate to Inbound Rules and create a rule for each DID. Set DID/DDI to the inbound number and Destination to the target extension or IVR. Repeat for each number assigned to this trunk.

Testing

In 3CX, check Dashboard → SIP Trunks — your trunk should show a green OK status. Call your DID from a mobile. Make an outbound call from a 3CX extension. Verify both directions work and caller ID displays correctly.
