A Virtual Mobile Number (VMN) is an Australian 04xx number that routes calls and SMS to your VoIP service, giving your business a mobile presence without a physical SIM card.
Activating Your VMN
Order a VMN in the VoIPCloud portal under Phone Numbers → Order Number → Virtual Mobile. A one-off activation fee of $22 applies. The number is active within 24 hours of ordering.
Routing Calls
Assign the VMN to a Call Flow in the portal. Inbound calls to your VMN number will follow your call flow — ring your extension, go to a queue, or play a greeting and go to voicemail.
Enabling 2-Way SMS
VMNs support inbound and outbound SMS. In the portal, navigate to SMS → Settings for your VMN. Inbound SMS can be forwarded to an email address, a webhook (for Teams integration), or viewed in the portal's SMS inbox.
Sending SMS from Your VMN
Send SMS via the VoIPCloud portal's SMS console, or via the REST API (documented in the portal under Developer → API). Replies from recipients arrive at your VMN and follow your configured inbound SMS routing.
